We are a small group of people living in and around Winchester. We are all from India, to be precise, from Kerala, in the southern part of India. Our mother tongue is Malayalam. We gather together in Our Lord's name once a month, every 4th Saturday (not the 4th Saturday of the month) from 3pm to 5pm.
Canon Paul is our Spiritual Father and he helps and guides us to grow in faith and spirituality. We formed as a group in April 2009 and approached Canon Paul for guidance and help and he kindly agreed to be our Spiritual Mentor.
We used to gather in our homes and as the numbers grew it became difficult to be accommodated at our homes.
Subsequently we approached Fr Paul and he arranged for us to use the Chapel at St Barnabas Church, Weeke, where we now gather.
It was our long cherished desire to have Adoration in front of the Holy Eucharist during the prayer meeting and we have been given permission for this by Canon Paul.
We are lay people and from the Syro Malabar Rite of the Universal Catholic Church. There are a couple of families in our group from the Syro Orthodox tradition. All of us believe our faith could be traced back to St Thomas, one of the 12 Apostles of Jesus.
We Sing our Traditional hymns in Malayalam and say Rosary, Chaplet of Divine Mercy, Bible reading, Intercessory prayers, Thanksgiving, and Praise and Worship to Our Lord and Adoration during the prayer meetings.
Praise be to The Lord. For the last year we could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit in this little work of Jesus and our prayers are being answered.
All of us are working couples and this prayer group helps us and our children meet and moreover to grow in faith.
All are welcome to pray with us.
