Parish Justice and Peace Group
What does Justice and Peace mean to us?
Let's start with ourselves. We have all been formed in God's image and likeness. That implies that we should treat all of humankind as God's image. Everybody, then, deserves the same peace that we wish for ourselves and our friends and family.
As Pope Paul VI said:
"If you want Peace work for Justice."
Members of our churches are actively involved in a wide variety of activites relating to issues of social justice, ecology, etc., and the Justice and Peace Group in the parish has recently been relaunched to co-ordinate these, and aims to respond to the Gospel call for action through a series of events throughout the year.
Everybody is welcome to get involved in Justice and Peace activities. We meet quarterly to arrange events and to maintain links with other groups in the Parish and external organisations in Winchester serving charitable purposes, e.g. Basics Bank, Night Shelter and Trinity Centre.

A Message from Bishop Crispian
"A living faith and the thirst for justice and peace go hand in hand. Our faith commits us to upholding the dignity and value of every human person and with that goes the commitment to justice and peace.
This needs to be a major part of the Pastoral Plan for the diocese, not just as the enthusiasm of some but as a mainstream engagement by everyone.
I want to encourage this as vigorously as I can and I warmly welcome the re-emergence of Justice and Peace as a major element of what it means to be a Catholic Christian in the Portsmouth Diocese today".
